Skin's Moisture

Why our skin dry. Normal dry skin is a sign of premature aging, that is to say you are 20 something but has a skin texture of 40 year old. Dry chapped skin could be due to following reasons:
  • Skin gets exposed to the dry environments due to living condition like winter, desert, air conditioning.
  • Hormonal imbalance (diabetic etc)
  • Genetic disorder.
  • Poor or unhealthy diet.
  • Illness like dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis or seborrhea.
Dry skin can be a sign of an underactive thyroid too. Serious skin complications can arise for people with diabetes. Drugs like diuretics, antispasmodics and antihistamines, can contribute to dry skin too.

There are many misunderstanding about the word "moist", more often than not, it is always related to water.  However, in reality, water is not the element that contribute to your skin's suppleness.  You might familiar with when your hands soaking long enough in the water, resulted in wrinkle appearance.  That is our point!!

The only true element that contribute your skin's suppleness is lipid (commonly known as oil).  As mentioned the above reasons, when our skin lack of lipid, when there is nothing to lubricate our skin thus resulting coarse and cracking skin.  If this symptom persist, it is not just don't look good, but also expose our skin to a number of microbes, like bacteria, yeast and fungus, skin infection complication follow.
